I’m a fan of Chef Mead’s and have been a customer since his “Sage” days. Thankfully the Ahi Burger and veggie salad were liked by the others at our table. Definitely pre-made and not great for the price. No prosciutto on the salad and the melon was warm & overripe, shrimp was rubbery. I had the special salad with melon, shrimp, prosciutto and greens ($34.00), which was just ok. Asked for a replacement and same thing - only oil. He never came by to check on us and I had to flag down a server to tell our waiter to bring the check.Īsian Chicken Salad was served with dressing on the side as requested - which was just oil, no Asian spices. Waited too long to order, too long to get water after requesting it as it was a hot and muggy day, no offer to order additional drinks during the meal or water refills. that the food and service has steadily declined over the last few months. I’m a local and have been proud to suggest this restaurant for many years to visiting guests to Newport and Rogers Garden’s. As far as we’re concerned, The Farmhouse is a destination restaurant so we’ll definitely return whenever we can. The nursery was first established over 50 years ago and remains a family-owned business. The Farmhouse opened within the Rogers Gardens nursery in 2016 as a sustainable open-air restaurant featuring innovative farm-to-table cuisine.

Our server was friendly, professional and attentive and made us feel welcome. I also enjoyed their market salad, a large plate of fresh mixed greens, lightly dressed with balsamic vinaigrette, with a tasty combination of diced peaches, cherry tomatoes, radishes and pickled blueberries. The generous cut of fish was served with fried sweet potatoes which were crisp on the outside and moist inside. I loved my grilled albacore tuna sandwich, seared ruby rare and topped with arugula, ginger, and red onions on a sweet Hawaiian bun. The mussels were on the menu under “small plates” but the dish was enough for a meal, especially with the addition of four large slices of thick toasted garlic bread. My wife was especially pleased with their perfectly prepared PEI mussels, steamed in white wine, butter, and herbs with the unique addition of bread crumbs in the broth. We had no idea that such a restaurant existed until our friends took us there for lunch when. Imagine terrific food and service in a beautiful setting amid acres of colorful and beautifully arranged flowers and plants and you’ve got the Farmhouse at Roger’s Gardens.
